SCOTS FERN

I visited Andrew Balding's Kingsclere yard this morning to see Scots Fern (2012 f Selkirk X Ushindi) work at second lot. She is coming on well and starting to come together now although still has to build up her rear a bit. She moves very well and has a good action. And hopefully will come out in September/October. She looks as though she will be a really fun filly as a three year old.

FLASHY QUEEN WINS AT NOTTINGHAM

Flashy Queen (2011 f Bahamian Bounty X Somersault) won the 2.50 a 5f class 5 handicap for 3-y-o rated 0 - 75. She was 4 lbs higher than her Windsor win, and drawn 1, she jumped well and up with the pace travelling strongly with the leaders. Steve Drowne took the lead one and a half out and kept on strongly holding off Touch The Clouds and Fuel Injection. She clearly appreciated the cut in the ground.

Flashy Queen has now won thrice had three seconds, and one third from eleven starts. She has now won £10,963.00 After the race Joe Tuite said " Flashy Queen smacked her head against the stalls last time and lost her chance. We think she's a nice filly in these conditions and we'll take our time with her. Next year we're hoping she'll be up to pattern class as she'll improve, but she's pretty good at the moment. I've always thought she was a nice filly."
